History

LeXmart development started in 2016 when the Academia das Ciências de Lisboa (ACL), through the Instituto de Lexicologia e Lexicografia da Língua Portuguesa (ILLLP), signed a protocol with the University of Minho for the construction of a new and modern Portuguese language resource that would give digital support to the last dictionary published by ACL – the Dicionário da Língua Portuguesa Contemporânea (DLPC), published in 2001 and coordinated by João Malaca Casteleiro. The main objective was that this retrodigitalised dictionary would serve as a starting point for the elaboration of a new and updated Academy Portuguese dictionary, coordinated by Ana Salgado.

The DLPC PDF document was converted into XML using the P5 schema of the TEI (Simões et al., 2016). Both dictionaries – DLPC and DACL – are already in the database, but only privately available.

The tool is being developed by Alberto Simões and by Ana Salgado.

Software

Soon a complete installation guide will be made available, as well as Docker images with eXist-DB and LeXmart ready to work.

LeXmart works on top of eXist-DB. LeXmart code is available at http://gitlab.com/ambs/lexmart.
